Ask any emergency room personnel or first responders and they will tell you things pick up around a Full Moon. We have a big one tomorrow, and yes, I witness how the planetary movements affect my patients and clients. I do not know of any other veterinarians integrating astrology into their practices, but if you are out there, please say hello!
This Full Moon is in fiery Aries, the “shoot first, ask questions later” sign of the zodiac. Aries can be a bit impulsive. It is forming a “Cardinal Grand Cross”, a potent formation that is all about taking action and moving things forward, releasing the past, and stepping into the future.
The Moon, representing our emotions and sitting on one corner of the square, is meeting up with Chiron, the wounded healer, bringing up our sore spots, the wound that we have been dealing with our entire lives. A third body, Eris, joins them. She is the uninvited goddess who crashes the party and gets everyone fighting and squabbling with one another. All three of them sit opposite the Sun.
On the the other 2 corners of the square are Pluto, god of the Underworld, who dredges up all the sludge from the underworld for all to see, process and finally deal with. He is going head to head with Mars, our Yang energy, taking action in the world.
So how is this showing up in my day-to-day?
Letting go has certainly been a theme lately in my patient cases. I have coached multiple clients in letting go this week We are trained in our society that to express our emotions is a weakness and that we have to stuff them down to be strong.
I had two clients this week tell me they did not want their animals to SEE them upset or crying. Both of them apologized for shedding tears. Women especially have been trained to stuff their emotions, and we wonder why breast cancer rates are so high.
First of all, everyone needs to know, that you cannot hide your feelings, sentiments or even intentions from your dog or cat! You cannot hide these things from your pets. Our animals read us like books and often know far more about us than we think, including when we thinking about getting up to get the ice cream carton out of the freezer at the next commercial break. Going into the other room to cry or whispering about having to make difficult decisions does not hide anything from your animals.
Holding all these emotions in, trying to hide them or bury them, creates stagnation which creates more pain and suffering for everyone involved. Not allowing them to flow, or the energy behind them to MOVE, can actually create more of a burden for your beloved pet. Stuck emotional energy can lead to resentment, guilt, and even scarier things like tumors. Yes, stagnant energy can lead to cancer.
So allow the emotions to flow through and out, allow the tears to flow, and find outlets for pent-up anger. Cry, grieve, beat, or scream into a pillow. Do what you need to do to release it. Go for a walk or a run. If need be, seek out a therapist to help you. These are tough times and our lives are changing faster than is often manageable. It can be truly overwhelming.
Share your feelings with your dog or cat. Tell them how much you love them and what they mean to you, even its through tears and sobbing. It’s ok to be emotional, in a safe manner that is not physically hurting yourself or another.
Let it out! and Let it go!
The season of Autumn is in full support of our grief. It is the season of the Metal Element in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the season of letting go and grieving. The trees are a good example this time of year, letting their dying leaves drop to the ground, preparing for winter.
The organs associated with Autumn are the Lungs and Large Intestine, that literally let go of all the waste products from the intestines and the carbon dioxide from cellular respiration. The sound associated with the Metal Element and Autumn is that of crying. Lean into the seasonal support and have a good cry. I am giving you permission.
Omg, Josie! This is so timely and related to a post I'm working on. I had a major "observing myself processing something and then letting it go moment." And I had just had an astrology session the day before the something happened! Love all of your insights. This one was spot-on! A vet who practices Chinese medicine and astrology is rare and your clients - animals and humans - are very lucky to have you! XO
Perfect and spot on. People seem to be going through hellish times now. It’s the time to clean up our baggage. And that baggage is showing itself loud and clear. Thanks so much for this! 🙏🏻💖
