This time of year allows us all to catch up with ourselves. We can put the outer world on pause, hang up the “Closed for Business” sign, and take stock of where we have been, our journey over the past 12 months, and where 2024 has spit us out, here, now, in the present.
I am a firm believer that our operating systems, nervous systems, endocrine systems, and sensory receptors require this reset. It's like turning your computer on and off: The problem is fixed, and everything begins working more efficiently.
Our ancestors understood this. They took this time to stay close to the hearth, tell stories, and dream the new year into being. Traditions worldwide take this time to celebrate and step out of their mundane lives.
Take these lazy days, waking up without an alarm clock, dogs still snoozing by the side of the bed, and a hot cup of tea calling us to the kitchen.
Give yourself the gift of this precious downtime!
The outer world will be waiting for you, I promise you.
Turn off social media and put down the screens. Silence the fear campaigns banging on the gate.
Take a stroll through your neighborhood or local park. Pick up that book you have been wanting to read and doze off while reading it.
We will meet again in the New Year of 2025.
Beautiful. Happy New Year to you also. xo ❤️
